Alex Wade of Microsoft demoed http://academic.research.microsoft.com/ which is currently part of Microsoft research/labs. The search includes a lot of additional information: citations, extracted keywords, full-text links, scientific field/context. Pretty interesting technology in the making.

An interesting way of disambiguating name is a combination of crowdsourcing (users editing information) and extracting individuals based on their publication history. Also interesting was the possibility to generate citation and co-author graphs as well as the connection between individual researchers or a rank of institutions in a particular field.

In general, this was a very nice presentation and it seems to be a very promising tool - which says a lot since we're already using something like 4-6 different search engines to find out literature....
