I've posted on religion before and how I have the suspicion that religion developed as an operant. Which basically means that it's there to give us a feeling of control over circumstances over which we don't have any control. Now Herman Dierick from the Neurosciences Institute has emailed me the link to a nice speech by Robert Sapolsky which reinforces this view.
