I've decided to redesign the poll on the right to be more impartial. It now reflects the idea that any scientific progress began with someone claiming the "mainstream" to be wrong. Most famous of course is the scientific mainstream following Newton's discoveries. A lone physicist by the name of Albert Einstein questioned 200 years of physical evidence and single-handedly spearheaded a revolution overturning the scientific establishment.
Today, the internet is rife with all kinds of fringe groups opposing the scientific mainstream: from people claiming to be abducted by aliens, holocaust deniers, creationists, 9/11 conspiracy theorists, global warming opponents to geocentrists, they all fight the uphill battle against the overwhelming majority conspiring to stifle their constitutionally granted dissent.
What do you think? Which of these fringe groups will become the next Einstein and overturn the scientific mainstream? Use the poll on the right to tell me!
