Came back from the Neuroscience meeting in Atlanta last week. It went pretty well, despite the fact that my poster was scheduled for the very last session. I had people at my poster without interruption until about 4pm (that's probably when the last afternoon flights were leaving).
It was somehwat dissapointing, though, that none of the people from the departments I applied to showed up. But I guess they were all buy getting their grants ready before the RO1 deadline Nov. 1. At least I hope, lol
My next experiments will complement the ones on the poster. I will now check with wild-type flies if the sw-learning paradigm can indeed function as the first invertebrate paradigm for habit formation. I'll train the flies for longer than before and if they then show the usually suppressed operant learning, it'll be a strong argument that the operant component in composite conditioning in flies can indeed be used to model habit formation.

UPDATE (Nov-2): One of the attendees of the Neuroscience meeting actually posted a video of the location on YouTube.
