It's that time of the year again. The annual meeting of the Society for Neuroscience is looming on the horizon. This year, I'm really early in my preparations: I have my poster ready a full 2 days before the flight! In case you are one of the chosen few who actually read this blog and go to the meeting and plan to see my poster (yeah, right, how likely is that?) you can download it here. The poster is about experiments in fruit flies ( Drosophila), in which I adress the question of why it sometimes is so hard to acquire a new skill and we have to practice really hard to learn it. Or you could say it's about why "learning by doing" works best. Have a look and decide for yourself
This meeting is the largest I've ever been to. Attendance is usually around 35,000, so it's really busy. Basically everybody in neuroscience is there so it's also a good opportunity to network and shop around for a junior faculty position This year, the meeting will be in Atlanta, Ga, which is neat, because it means I get to meet my buddies from the Condors again!
UPDATE: I've found that 5 more people are blogging about going to the meeting: Meg, tigereyedragon, camaryllis, nargobee and neurocontrarian. Cool! If you're also blogging about the meeting and are not listed here, just contact me or leave a comment.
