My lab:

Today I had set up an appointment with Volker Lange from the WissKomm (a German organization for the communication of science to the public). Right on time at 2pm sharp he knocked on my door with a camera man and a couple of boxes full of equipment. I was quite suprised, I hadn't expected such a veritable portable TV studio for my little lab. I wasn't even sure if our crappy electricity grid would handle two additional 600W lights blush.png. But after some shuffling around and careful switching of cables and connections, verything was set and working. The two-man team actually stayed for about two hours and a half and I had some interesting conversations with Volker Lange, mainly about OpenAccess, Web 2.0 for scientists, PLoS One and SciVee, but at the end, when the equipment was being taken down, also about my work here. It'll be interesting to see what they will make of this interview! Mr. Lange even offered me some feedback as to how useful my performance in front of a camera was and how I could improve it! Given my utter lack of training in handling the media, this is a very welcome offer indeed! Apparently, the final version of the interview will air some time before the end of the year.
Until then, stay tuned to their programs on YouTube and SciVee.
