sfn.jpgI'm currently sitting in meeting room 1B of the convention center in beautiful San Diego, California. I'm attending the annual meeting of the Society for Neurosience. This particular session is entitled "Voluntary movements III" and I will talk in about 2h on the "Flight motor performance deficits in flies with genetically altered biogenic amine levels". The funny thing is that in this 4h session there is one talk about birdsong, one about monkey movements and the rest of the talks is about human movements. And into all this vertebrate glory comes little me and gives a talk about how biogenic amines orchestrate insect flight. I think from the line-up of talks, you may get a faint idea of how out of place I feel right now But I guess I should be at least a little proud that our topic was selected to join this illustrous crowd! It'll be interesting how many of the attendants of this session will stay for our fly presentation and I think I should try to find an opportunity after the session to find out who I have to thank for for providing me with this opportunity.
Wish me luck that this talk goes well (or pop by if you happen to be attending)!
