This news report in The Scientist makes me suspicious that Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) may be a false diagnosis. CFS patients stalking CFS researchers with knives? Stalking? I mean day and night? Aren't these patients supposed to be all tired and out of energy? I guess at least these patients can't be all that chronically fatigued, going after scientists with such ridiculous motivations. I mean, isn't already the word 'activist' sort of the opposite of 'fatigued'? This report seems to suggest that the CFS researchers who are abandoning the field are right in doing so: they should start treating these patients for schizophrenia maybe or some other psychosis with delusional symptoms. At least in these cases, CFS is clearly a misdiagnosis.

The Guardian writes: "Chronic fatigue syndrome – also known as myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) – is common and debilitating." Well, if it was all that debilitating, the patients wouldn't be able to become activists right?

One paragraph in the Guardian piece gives it all away:
Many of the extremists' claims are bizarre, said Professor Simon Wessely, of the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London. "They say I am in league with pharmaceutical companies in order to suppress data that shows a link between viruses and the syndrome. But why on earth would drug companies do that? If they could link the condition to a virus they would be well on the way to developing lucrative treatments and vaccines. It is crazy."
If that isn't the clearest evidence that at least the 'activist' patients do have brain issues, brains don't exist devilmad.png
