I rarely post about movies, but this one deserves special mention: V for Vendetta. Similar to Sin City, I had looked at the graphic novels many a times before the movie came to be, but I had never bought them. With Sin City coming out, I went and got myself some of Miller's novels, just to be able to compare. This time around I didn't find the time to get the books, so I decided to wqatch the movie uninitiated.
I was utterly spellbound by it! In line with the recent swell of fantastic comic adaptations, it captured the comic-ness of the books perfectly. The over-sketching of the protagonists, the larger-than-life characters, the post-modern reflection of past "The Count of Monte Christo" adaptations with intertwined modern political imagery and the now almost classical, "Miller-esque" TV-scenes in the movie were all very much to my liking. I like old stories told in a new way and this movie was particularly good at it.
