My lab:

This is a format that is unique to the ICN meeting: short (10-15min) talks which are usually put together during or just before the meeting with sizzling hot brand new data. This 2h session was very exciting featuring topics as diverse as neuromics, biogenic amines and flight (my talk), synaptic development in the spinal chord of tadpoles, a singing brain in a dish, comparative evolution of tailflip escape in crustaceans and simple behavioral experiments in Ecuadorean neuroscience education.

I like the format because the talks resemble more informal lab meetings than lectures and allow for speculation, direct contact with he people doing the research and throwing around wild hypotheses. Science today is quick. This is a quick format for the science of today.
